USF recruiting for the 2010 season may not be over yet for Skip Holtz and company. With T.J. Knowles and possibly Spencer Boyd, USF may be the destination for another transfer, defensive back T.J. Mutcherson. Mutcherson, a two star, 5'11 and 190 lb. defensive back was originally recruited by North Carolina and USF, but decided on UNC. But due to academic problems and test score issues, Mutcherson was not allowed to enroll at UNC, ending his chances of playing for the Tar Heels. A graduate of Freedom High School, Mutcherson turned his attention closer to home and USF. USF is the only school he is looking at this point and has already talked to Coach Holtz about enrolling with the team and school this fall.
Mutcherson has posted new tests scores and is waiting for USF to evaluate his results for admittance into USF for the fall semester. Mutcherson would help provide some depth for the rebuilding defense for USF, he would play behind Washington and Webster. There is a chance he could move to safety as well because of his size and recovery speed in open space. He is still waiting to hear back from USF officials but has repeatedly stated that USF is the only school he is wanting to play for now. He could gray shirt if he was delayed this season, which would allow him four years starting next season to play. For now, we all must wait to see if Mutcherson will be patrolling the secondary this year.
