Ugly, shameful and nail-biting, all the words to describe USF's victory over DePaul last night. The Bulls rise to 18-11 and 8-9 in conference play and a chance for a first ride bye if they win Saturday and get some help from other teams. Last year USF won a total of only 4 conference games, they have doubled it this season.
The game was beyond slow and the defenses and poor offenses dominated the first half, USF not breaking the double point mark until 10 minutes into the first half. Jones continued his offensive struggles, going 4-20 from the field and having to live at the free throw line. Heath got under his players at half time and they responded, Famous with 8, Howard with 13 and Gilchrist with 11. Gilchrist is seeming to get it together and looks healthy for once. He is coming off the bench in the last few games but has been an effective force in doing so and seems to add a spark to the offense. USF is lucky to escape DePaul, most Big East teams do not want to face the Demons because of their defense, even if they are 1-15 in conference play.
USF's next game is on Saturday against Uconn. The Bulls will need their best effort when facing a desperate Uconn team that is also on the bubble just like USF. It should be a great game, hope everyone makes it to the Sun Dome to watch, GO BULLS!
